Mental health affects our daily living, relationships, physical health, and certainly our singing voices. Conditions such as stress, depression, and anxiety can all affect mental health and disrupt a person’s routine. Mission Australia and the Black Dog Institute both report a recent significant rise in psychological distress among all Australians, with almost one in four young people now experiencing mental health challenges.

How do we, as singing teachers, deal with mental health concerns in the vocal studio – both our own and those of our students? In this short webinar, Simone Parrott will provide an overview of common concerns and some strategies to deal with them (including when to refer), as well as providing an overview of the Mental Health First Aid course now available widely throughout Australia. As a qualified instructor in this course, as well as an artist and educator, Simone is well placed to speak from first hand experience.

Please note: unfortunately, this webinar is unable to be recorded for later viewing.
